COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The 71st Cavalry Regiment was officially inactivated on July 26, 2024. The unit, also known as 3-71 CAV, was part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team at Fort Drum, New York. The inactivation was a result of the Army's need to modernize and restructure its forces. An inactivation ceremony was held to honor the unit's history and accomplishments, including casing the unit's colors. The unit had a 20-year history at Fort Drum and served in deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan.
