COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The U.S. Army's 31st Engineer Battalion was inactivated at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in 1993. However, its lineage was recently reactivated as part of the 1st Engineer Brigade, but the 31st Engineer Battalion itself was inactivated again in 2002 and its history shows a pattern of being activated and then inactivated over several decades.
