COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The 47th Infantry Division was deactivated in 1991 and was re-flagged as the 34th Infantry Division as part of a post-Cold War restructuring and reduction in force by the U.S. Army. This Army National Guard division was active from 1946 to 1991 and included units from the Minnesota and North Dakota National Guards. During the Korean War, it was federalized from 1951 to 1954 but did not deploy overseas; its personnel were used as replacements for other units in the combat zone.
