COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The Republic of Vietnam Navy Gallantry Cross (Hải-Dũng Bội-Tinh) was a military decoration awarded for acts of heroism or meritorious service in naval operations during the Vietnam War. It was given to members of the Republic of Vietnam Navy and to foreign military forces for their support of RVN naval operations. The medal, which could be equivalent to the US Legion of Merit, was also awarded for non-combat service and had different versions with gold, silver, or bronze anchors.
