COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The National Order of Vietnam (Bảo Quốc Huân Chương) was the highest honor that could be bestowed upon an individual by the government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). It was a combined military and civilian decoration created in 1950 by Emperor Bảo Đại. Modeled after the French National Order of the Legion of Honour, the award is now considered obsolete since the nation no longer exists.
