COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The 4th Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division was first activated on May 15, 1971 at Fort Hood, and inactivated on June 30, 1972. After a period of inactivity, the unit was re-designated and activated again in 2005 as the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, which was inactivated on October 17, 2013.
