COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, was activated on November 15, 2004, and was deactivated in 2014 following the brigade's final deployment to Afghanistan.

Iraq (2006–2007): The battalion deployed to Iraq, operating in the "Triangle of Death" region southwest of Baghdad and battling insurgents and terrorists.

Iraq (2009–2010): The battalion deployed to Iraq again in 2009, this time operating in southeastern Baghdad. Their focus was on assisting and training Iraqi Security Forces before the final withdrawal of U.S. forces.

Afghanistan (2013): During its third and final deployment to Afghanistan, they assisted Afghan National Security Forces in Paktika Province, providing artillery and close-air support.
