COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (the Vanguard Battalion) was activated on September 16, 2004, and was inactivated on August 14, 2014, as part of the restructuring of the brigade. The main 3rd Brigade Combat Team itself was reactivated in 2015 but this did not include the special troops battalion.
