COLLECTOR’S NOTES: The 1ST Brigade Special Troops Battalion was activated under the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 2d Infantry Division on 20 June 2005. The unit traces its lineage to the 2nd Engineer Battalion, which was first activated on 3 August 1861 for service during the American Civil War. It includes participation in the American Civil War, Spanish American War, the Philippine Insurrection, World Wars I and II, and the Korean War. Its campaigns include the Peninsula Campaign, the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, the defense and subsequent breakout of the Pusan Perimeter, and the advance to the Yalu River. The Battalion has earned 34 campaign streamers.
